The Doctor and his party arrive on the planet Skaro where they unwittingly journey out into high radiation. They locate a city where they encounter machine-housed creatures known as the Daleks. Sickened by the radiation, the Doctor and his party become unwitting pawns of the Daleks as they seek to destroy the Thals, the peace-loving survivors of the war that left Skaro in ruins. Through Susan, the Daleks promise the Thals food and supplies in exchange for the Thal drug that can counter the effects of the radiation sickness. The Daleks, however, have set a trap and the Doctor and his party are barely able to escape in time to warn the Thals of this deception and prevent their destruction. Yet the Daleks have taken an important component of the Doctor’s TARDIS, so the Doctor, with the help of the Thals, must return to the city, defeat the Daleks, and regain his property.
